We’ve all had those close calls while running, when you cross an intersection thinking you have the right of way. Or you think the driver saw you, but they didn’t.
That’s what happened to Elon University freshman Molly Offstein on Monday, March 6. She was out for her morning run around 7:30 a.m., crossing an intersection when she was struck by a car.
Molly remains in critical condition and is in a medically induced coma. In initial reports, she was unidentified because she was out with no identification, in a sweatshirt and tights. No charges are filed against the driver, who had a green light and was obeying the speed limit, according to witnesses.
