Personal Best Training announced the launch of a Louisville-based training group offering marathon and half marathon programs for all abilities beginning in January 2021. Local PBT athlete Tracy Green will team up with PBT founder Matt Ebersole to offer comprehensive programs to prepare you to be your best. Three plan levels will be offered for each distance, and can be tailored to accommodate participants of any level and adjusted for various spring race dates.
Participants will choose their training level — Finisher, Pacer or Racer — and race distance at registration and will receive access to daily workout details posted on Training Peaks, an online training log platform. Ebersole will update training plans every few weeks to allow for adjustments and will provide a weekly video explaining the how and why for the workouts. Training plan duration will be based on the participant’s intended race schedule through the end of May. The programs are $100 for the marathon and $75 for half-marathon.
Green will coordinate optional in-person sessions for the quality workout each week. Tuesday workouts will begin Jan. 12 and will be based at Waggener High School, utilizing the track and surrounding area. Safety measures will be in place, including social distancing and masks worn before/after running. Staggered meeting and start times based on pace may be employed if attendance warrants. Additional details will be emailed to participants. Participants can also join a private Facebook group to connect with others in the program.
Since founding Personal Best Training in 1991, Ebersole has worked with more than 7,000 runners of all abilities and aspirations. He has helped thousands run their first or best half and full marathons, hundreds qualify for the Boston Marathon and nine qualify for the Olympic Trials. Based in Indianapolis, Ebersole offers group training programs and highly individualized private coaching to help runners get faster, pursue new challenges, or simply have more fun running.
Green is a Louisville-based runner and fitness professional. She began running in 2006 using a run-walk program and worked to achieve sub-3 hours for the marathon with the guidance of Ebersole. A former running store employee and writer for multiple publications, she also owns and operates Kinetic Energy Core & Cardio, a virtual fitness studio.
